Frangipani Care

The lovely Plumeria Rubra, or Frangipani, thrives in a warm location with at least 6 hours of full sun in the summer. Once established, they are quite drought-tolerant. Deep watering during hot, dry summer weather is always appreciated. Applying a slow-release fertilizer after new growth appears in late spring will keep your plant healthy and thriving.

Frangipanis are deciduous in cooler climates like Sydney, shedding their leaves over the winter. During this dormant period, watering is generally not necessary.

If re-potting, a well-draining soil mix is preferred, as Frangipanis don’t like their roots to sit in standing water. A blend of cactus & succulent soil mix with a premium soil mix works well. You can also add coarse sand or perlite to improve drainage.
