Frangipani Pests & Diseases

Rust may appear in late summer, showing up as yellow dots on the underside of leaves. While rust won't kill a Frangipani, it can be unsightly and cause leaves to drop earlier than usual. Using a fungicide may help slow its spread. Affected leaves should be trimmed and disposed of in the bin (not green waste).

Frangipanis can be susceptible to root and stem rot in very humid and wet conditions. Yates offers an excellent anti-rot product to help combat this.

Pests: Scale, aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. Start by checking for ants traveling up and down your plant. This is often an indicator that ants are farming the honeydew secretions created by scale and aphids, which they feed on. Treating for ants is often the best solution. Ladybugs are also a great ally, as they love to eat aphids. Mealybugs in small numbers pose no significant threat but can be sprayed with a mix of isopropyl alcohol and water.
